Toshiba Introduces HD DVD Player in Japan
April 07, 2006
In late March 2006 Toshiba launched the world's first HD DVD player in Japan, which was originally scheduled to hit the market in late 2005 but was delayed due to content protection issues. This player has a price tag of 110,000 Yen. Toshiba also plans to roll out two models in the United States in April, priced at US$800 and US$500, respectively. Toshiba plans to produce 2,000 units per month initially and expects to sell 600,000 to 700,000 units worldwide in 2007.
